high mileage Seafoam treatment?

I have an 87 4runner with 172,000 on on the 22re and was wondering if because of the high mileage, would the seafoam do more harm than good? I just got the truck and would like to get it in top running shape. I am planning a 1200 mile trip soon. If the treatment would be advisable, where on my engine do I pour in the seafoam? Also, what kind of O2 sensor would you guys recomend and where could I pick one up? I don't think the one in my runner has been changed.

Chill out! The guy is new to the site and might not know how to search so he asked about seafoam. You were new to this site once!

Now to the seafoam I would not add it to your oil being that your truck has high milage. If you want to attempt to clean the oil system change the oil and filter more often. If you add the seafoam to the oil it might begin to clean the oil passages to quickly and you might end up blocking a passage when crap begins to break up.

Running it into your intake is the only way I would use seafoam since it is not getting into the internal bearing surfaces.

READ THE CAN BEFORE YOU USE IT!!!! Also do a search for seafoam on the site!

I've used it many times in lots of vehicles. You can use the above links to read a lot of peoples experiences with it, mine are basically the same.
I had no problems using it all 3 ways (intake, fuel, crankcase) on my 230,000 mile 22re truck.

I agree. This is a discussion board where we talk about 10-20 years old. There is only so much we can talk about. If we had to search everytime we got on here, this wouldn't be a discussion board, it would be a database.

Most people use the PCV hose. It will be attached to you valve cover and run up to the intake. Just disconnect the hose and leave the PCV valve in the valve cover. Be patient and pour slowly so that you don't kill the engine.
