High Idle=More use of gas..Need advice

Guys,
So this is where im at. I adjusted my idle valve screw.
When im sitting at a light or just letting it idle..there is no surging...just a really high idle..This doesn't happen all the time..I notice this more when ive been driving for a while when its hot. I did check the vacuum lines and didnt see anything on there..Im actually going out there in a little to spray some soapy water around the vacuum lines to make sure im not missing anything.

Last night i filled up a full tank of gas..drove not more than 60 miles and now im just above Half tank..We all know thats just insane..and the funny thing is i dont have a heavy foot.
I did run sea foam thru my system a few months ago..maybe i should run it thru it again???

Any help or advice will help me out since im lost at this point.

Are you sure you really used that much fuel? It could be that the sending unit in the tank went bad. I know on my truck once I drive about 60-70 miles my gas gauge goes straight to E, but I know that I haven't used that much gas in such a short time. Also, which engine? 22R or 22R-E?

I would set your timing, and make sure you have a 190 degree Thermostat. I had a cooler one and seamed like it confused the idle. I got the toyota dual stage Tstat.

what motor? i have the 22re and had a high idle as well. i found that there is a little plastic piece that is connected to the diaphram on the throttle in the intake. the plastic piece was clogged. i removed it and idles perfect. good luck

Remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning and make sure the vacuum ports on it arn`t plugged.

mine started this 2 days ago, so I feel your pain.

when I can, will check for a vacuum leak, since nothing has changed or been done to the truck.

I have the 22re..I know that when i drive the guage tends to fluctuate but i know for a fact that i am using that much fuel..coz one day i ran out of gas LOL

i did check the vacum lines they seem fine..the next step is to take out the TB and give it a cleaning.
