hey all, new guy here
Hey all, couldn't find a definitive place to put an intro thread so if this is the wrong spot please let me know!
Anyways, names Tyler I am a minesweeper in the navy, and I'm looking at getting a pre 95 4x4 to replace my bike I got hit on by a drunk driver. Plans are going to include daily driver duty's, and dispersed camping and some mild fire road wheeling in the pacific northwest summer and winter!
I look forward to learning all you guys have to share and contributing back any way I can!
Thanks in advance,
Tyler

I guess, this is the right place to post about your quest for a second gen 4Runner/3rd Gen truck. Best of luck with that.

Thanks for your service! It is pretty awesome being a deck mineman on a wooden hull. I've done 2 Persian excursions and possibly a third is up in the air.
Hopefully I can find a decent truck for 5k or less. I'll be honest, rust has me scared out of my mind. I dealt with enough of it on my last 2 VW's and my bronco to last me a lifetimes. How bad is it really with these trucks? It seems some people says its OK and others make it sound like it will fall apart with in a year. I'd like to hikd onto what ever I buy for at least five years. But I'd rather it not look like swiss cheese. The bes doesn't worry me as much, just an excuse to make a cooler setup back there! More scared about the frame and cab.
