Hey guys, first post here. I did a deep dive, I couldn't find the info I needed, so apologies if this is rehashing something posted here elsewhere. I've got a 1988 pickup 3vze.
So I need help finding new connectors for two sensors. I know a new OEM is not available. I need a replacement for the engine coolant temp sensor connector for part 89422-12010. I also need a connector for the cold start time switch part 89462-30011. Mine are broken. I've managed to just wire straight in on the coolant temp sensor (pic below) but I am getting a code 22 I can't seem to clear. From my understanding, the time switch shouldn't be an issue related to code 22 (still need to check wiring and ECU), but I am in the process of getting all that sorted, as my cold start injector is bad and this time switch connector is broken. Thanks for looking. Hoping someone knows the right 2-pin replacement connectors that will work for this.

The CSI switch connector is generic, you can find them at local auto parts stores or online. The ECT connector is generic enough except for the offset keyway. You can shave the nub down on your existing one if it tested good(did you test it?) and just use the correct size generic connector. It will still lock in with the spring clip on the side ears.

If the ECT sensor is truly faulty, you may just want to get the newer style sensor and wire in the correct OEM sensor connector for that one since it’s readily available.
Whatever you do, make sure the pins on the wiring side are going to the correct terminals on the sensor.

 

Okay, thanks for that information. I had a code 22 maybe 9-months back. I changed out the sensor with a cheap $15 one from Yotashop. Truck ran great until recently when the code returned. Very hard to start the engine. The original connector was party broken, so I just yanked off the connector and tied it in directly - still had the issue. So I bought a new OEM ECT sensor thinking maybe the cheap one was bad. Still no luck. I will move onto the wiring and ECM next. This is all new to me, but I do want to replace the connectors. I've been struggling finding a functional cold start injector, but need to get that connection to the timing switch fixed. Thanks, your advise is helpful.
