well i switched the bulbs behind my gauge cluster and now my blinkers wont work and second of all i broke my dimmer switch need help in which direction to look in

 

$20 says you forgot to plug in the hazard harness. . . I've done that

In my area a combo switch runs about $40 from the boneyard. I would suggest getting one from there and before putting it in, clean the contacts on the switch assembly to head off the problem of bright lights not working. The contacts just need a quick cleaning. I have it listed on my 88 Runner build thread on the first page. You will need to rent a wheel puller from a parts store.

 

or bring a friend.loosen steering wheel nut a few turns, one guy pulls up on wheel as hard as possible and the other guy wacks the nut with a hammer.should pop up easily.

Please, easy on the hammering. The steering column is designed to "telescope" in a collision, and you don't want to get that mis-set.

You need a rheostat (Toyota part name) no need to pull steering wheel, but if you can find a used one it will save you money. They're spendy new from dealer.

its a 89 someone has a 92 but he dint specify if it was a truck or not

 

If it's an 89 that's better lots of interchange on that part.

yes hit the column with a hammer done it a thousand times at work never damaged a one. we are talking removing a steering wheel and nothing to do with the crush zone on the shaft.this would be useful to some on that does not have access to a puller.

 

a kid has a 92 pick up near me for part and has the rheostat how much should i offer him for it

 

My rule of thumb is to pay not more than half of the new price for used parts. So, if the part is $111, I'd offer him $20-25 and not go over $50.
