HELP!! my runner died :(

Ok newbie here. So I was turning down my street and my lovely 90 runner (22r engine) died wtf?? I got a few peculiar lights. 1. The brake light 2 the battery light. ( on a side note the batt gauge was reading low when it died, but not when i was driving, and when it read low, it was still within limits.) 3 the a/t oil hot light. (never seen this light pop up on ant a/t car, ever) 4 the check engine light. WTF?? I think it prolly is the alternator. I have the batt on a charger right now. This my DD so any help is appreciated!

alternator would be my guess, not sure about the a/t light, but the others came on when my alt went out.

p.s. I'll be posting pics of my stock, rusted to hell, project/ DD 90 runner soon. I need suggestions on what I should do to it. The guy who sold it to me ( for $800 ) got hammered and ran into something and the bumper mounts are screwed. And not to mention the rust all over. Its gonna take some work for sure!

From: Cincinnati, Ohio - Amelia is the exact place. There is no one else on this site from where I am. Seems like everyone is from Cali or Washington. I guess I need to move.
Make sure the positive going into the main fuse box is good. I got mine home the night after I rebuilt it and didnt tighten the pos and it came out of the terminal making everything all stupid.

It drove home fine, the I tried to restart it and nothing.

Nice to see someone else from Ohio on here!

It is nice to see someone else from The buckeye state! So I put the batt in after it charged and after some cranking it started up and ran for quite awhile. so i dunno if it is the alternator or not.

If you sign up with Photobucket they give you nice big pics instead of the thumbnails. If I were you I would just get some brackets of a different vehicle, if you try to heat those and bend them you'll wind up weakening them I would think. Just get an impact, PB blaster, and maybe a tourch and get those off.

also, you have a V6 emblem on your grille and a 22r 4cyl? Previous owener might have replaced that to?

LOL yeah he had to replace the grille too. Yanked one off a v6. come to think of it, thats a great excuse to buy a 6cyl and throw it in there.

No no no, I would just take the V6 emblem off the girlle and keep the 22r. Like Dominos oven baked sandwiches, 22r's are preferred 2-1.

Hey, you should be able to access the FSM for the 93 truck on this forum, and find out the way to test the alt, if you have a multimeter. That will let you know if you need to replace that, or if the cold cranking amps in your battery just suck. Easy test to let you know.

Dude I need a few hands. I was a helo mech in the Marines, and this yota is throwin me for a loop. It would be nice to look up close to one that has been mod'ed, and talk to someone who knows what they are doin. Go figure i can fix a 36 million dollar helo but not a yota! Oh well, guess im gonna learn huh?

A thrown bat and brake light are the computers way of telling you there is a charging issue. Test the alt....

You should love working on your 22re thoes things are easy as pie!

just take the negative battery cable off while running and if it dies it's the altenator. Be careful though.
