help with idle/stalling problem
This is a 3.4L 2000 SR5 2WD Automatic with 240K miles and no major issues to date.
The symptoms are:
1. Cold start is fine - idle is up as normal and drops when engine come up to temp.
2. If the engine is then shut off and immediately restarted the engine cranks/runs for a short time and stalls. Repeated restarts results in a stall.
3. At this point if you give it a little throttle when started the engine will not stall if the RPMs are kept up manully. After a while (somewhat non-specific) the engine will idle normally when the accellorator is released and can be put in gear and drives/idles OK. It will idle normally when driving/stopping.
4. Once the engine is stopped (and not let to cool down for quite a while) the same as 2 and 3 above occur.
Ironically this started just after an oil change but I feel it is just a coincidence.
Any ideas/suggestions?
THANKS

I am not getting the check engine light. Have not checked for stored codes. Need some education in this area.
She took it to Toyota - they say its a bad Idle Air Control Valve (>$600), how much work is this to replace?
(I thought I had posted this in the 3rd Gen section, not sure what it ended up here)
