Help finding lockers
'Bout to start my locker search. I now know I don't want a lunchbox locker. I'm pretty sure I want an E-Locker. Where is the best place to look? And what are the specs I need to look for? Worked the search engine, but still confused as far as problems with 7.5" front's, going to cables, bla bla bla. '89 Runner, manual, 22RE. Thanks

an E-locker will only work in a solid axle. So for you only the rear will work.
Look around the junkyards for totalled 96+ 4runners and taco's with the TRD package.

If I did do this, I would like to avoid having to regear at the same time ($$$)
I assume my truck has the stock gears (as it's all stock)

Well thanks for the responses. So to get this straight, I can only get an e-locker for the rear because they only work on solid axles. Correct? And to find that, I need to look for a wrecked 96+ Runner/Taco w/TRD. They should be fine because since they are locked, they run the 8" diff like mine? Also, can someone give me a brief description of "third member"? Is that exactly what I need to look/ask for? Or can I just by the locker itself? I'll do a search on third member as well. Thanks

Ahhh.. I see, so as to not buy the whole axle itself right? And when they say "complete third member", it's like buying the diff. with the gears of your choice and possibly locker already installed. All I have to do is insert it into the axle housing?

Minor trimming of your current axle housing is required to make room for the e-locker actuator.
You will have to cut out a section, drill and tap a hole and put a new stud in for the 3rd member to bolt onto.
