Help!! Electric fan problem! Melting fuse boxes!
#21
quick question maybe you guys have a clue. I use the royal purple antifreeze additive (thingy that makes your car run cooler) and with the electric fan, My truck is running at about 130*F under normal low rpm conditions and in fifth gear on the open road going 55 it runs about 160*F ........ I know thats on the cooler side, but how cool do you think itll be with the stock fan and shroud? not higher than 190 right??

If you have a good thermostat on the e-fan and or multi-speed version, you should have no issue maintaining whatever temp you set the thermostat to.
least I never had an issue with my flex-a-lite

Im not running a thermo switch. Dont even use my fan during the winter months, to damn cold. lol During the summer usually flip it on when I need it and usually stays around 190-200.

Yeah you konw what I was fed up..... I gave up. went to the junkyard. Found a clutch fan off a 20R and took it for 30bucks. Needed to put some washers to make it fit (20R didnt have power steering belt stuffs, so less room for fan blades) . But got it to work. I cut the electric fan shroud and used that and it fit around it HAHA! runs good lol.
But for my temp. I really liked my truck running so cool, was REALLY good. So you say now itll be about 190? damn thats hot... i guess well see.
Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate. I tried listening to everything you guys said but i just COULDNT FIGURE NOTHINNNNN OUT, so i gave up. Stock fan it is. lol.
Aloha guys!

Hey update guys. I ended up getting a fan from a 20R, got it to work, cut the shroud from the electric fan and it runs at a good 130*F, same as with the electric fan. And on highway it runs about 160*F or a tad more. Not bad and NO MORE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS!!
YAYY!! haha
