Help diagnose noise

Hi all, I've got a new noise coming from my '87 pickup (2wd, 4spd). It's making a low groaning noise starting at 45mph. The noise stops with brake application, then returns thereafter. It also stops when turning the steering wheel to the left (?). I immediately thought it was coming from the right front wheel bearing, replaced it and no improvement. So now I'm thinking u-joints?

It is possible. It sure sounds like a U-joint problem if it is groaning...but I am also not that great of a mechanic, either.

SOunds like wheel bearings. Jack the front of the truck up and pull in and out on the tires. There should be no play or very very little.

Seems to be wheel bearings.

Yup, it was my LEFT front wheel bearing. Just goes to show it's hard if not impossible to determine the location of a sound while driving.
