So I noticed that my drivers side headlight is pretty wobbly.
Then I popped the hood and discovered this:



Question: Do I need a whole new headlight assembly? Or is this somehow fixable?

And of course - another chance to whore out my truck

ok joshua the picture dont really help out that well cause its a little to close maybe if you can get a really good picture from a little farther away and then a god close up?

 

i cant tell what the hell is in that pic either, just duct tape it what lumber yard is that?

Dang it... I thought the picture would be helpful. From what I can tell, there are two "adjustable" attachment points and one "fixed" attachment point for the headlight.

This is a picture of the "fixed" attachment point. Right now I can push on my headlight and it moves back and forth along the thread that you can see in the picture. On my passenger side headlight this attachment point does not move.

I will have to take more pictures later when I get a chance.

BTW - that is a lumber yard near my work place in Eugene, Or

when you snap more pics, snap a few of the passenger side too for comparison.
and maybe some of the driver's side when you press on it as well.

 

yeah pictures pictures pictures but if its just the ring that holds the light in the run a zip tie around the ring and to something and it holds it in trust me plus it makes it easier to do a head light change both my lights are like this but that just cause the stupid screws were rusted lol so i just cut them off lol and ziped tied them on!

 

allan, those are the replaceable bulb / aerodynamic headlights so the adjustments are little different. mostly the same, but still different. no little metal tang hangin out with a phillips head screw in it like ours.

so it looks like a square nut on the adjusting screw.
have you tried turning that nut so it is up against the frame farthest from the headlight?

as mentioned... how about a pic of the passenger side?

 

Sorry - I don't have access to my camera right now. I will take a picture of the passenger side tomorrow. The passenger side headlight has the same nut, but it is flush with the back of the headlight. I thought at first that the two pieces broke and separated on the drivers side headlight.... but you got me thinking. Maybe the nut rotates? There isn't enough clearance to get a wrench in there. I may have to take off the grille....

 

ok sorry buddy as abe said im guessing i have no idea how to do them with out looking at it man sorry i tried though

 

or just get a wrench / pliers / needle-nose in there to catch the nut, then back the screw out until the nut is near the end of the screw. then remove the wrench from the screw and then screw the screw in (? redundant ?) until the nut is touching the plastic... like it does on the passenger side.

 

looks like a job for a zip tie lol

 

I tried using some needle nose pliers. There is enough room to make contact with the nut, but not enough room to actually rotate it. I cannot figure out where to access the back of the screw... It seems like there should be a logical way to fix this... but I just cannot figure it out.

Someone here has installed a headlight before. Help!
