Help with 22re engine mounts, and other misc. stuff

So, having problems with this mount. Im guessing a spacer went on the other side of this? I didnt take it off, so I have no clue. Can anyone confirm/deny? And if that is a confirm, anyone have this spacer they can sell me?

As well, I am in the middle of swapping in a new remanned engine into my 86 runner, and I didnt take the time to do it right and label/bag individual fasteners/etc. Sooo evidently Ive lost/missing some bolts, anyone have a grab bag or two laying around?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I just looked through the 1000 pictures I took during my engine swap and couldn't find anything that looks like that. Provide a few more pictures of your bracket at different angles, its kind of hard to see what it is.

Don't get your panties in a twist...someone like me may have looked at it at work but couldn't help you until they got home from work. They usually have photos on their home computer, and then it takes some time to edit the photo to assist you.

It appears that the alternator bracket is under the engine mount bracket, that's why one side is higher than the other. I recall spending a few moments putting the appropriate things in the right order before bolting that area down. If you want me to post another picture as it sits in my engine bay now, just post up and ask.

Remember this board is very helpful, but no one is obligated to help you, everyone has a life and priorities of their own. It's happened to me a few times before so I know the feeling you had. All I can do is "Do unto others as I would HOPE they would do unto me" when I need help.

I didnt mean to come off as rude, but now that I look back I can easily see how that post can be taken as such. My apologies.

But thank you very much sir, that makes perfect sense now that I see it. Myself nor my buddy remembered there being any type of spacer so we were both dumbfounded when I went to bolt the mount back up.

Looking at your pic reminded me that the brackets on the bottom of the block that bolt to the trans bell housing are both broke, being that they were both broke and I didnt notice any ride difference, it is paramount that I source new brackets? I believe the starter mates to the one on the other side, but Im sure I can work around that.

Thoughts? Thanks for the help!

I really need to source a lot of dumb little stuff that was misplaced, looks like I may be headed to pnp in the morning to see whats available. Unless someone has those brackets, and a bunch of bolts laying around?

Well now that I recheck everything I am not so sure. As you can see, one side is higher than the other, and then on the right bracket, one mounting point is higher than the other. In a few Im going to head into the garage and if make more sense. It seems this must be the way since the alt/ps is mounted on the right side of the block, so the bracket marked "R" should go as you said, Greg. Unless by "R" they mean passenger side and not actually facing the motor.

this is the "left" mount bracket, marked "L"

and this is the "right," marked "R"

Here is a photo of how it sits now in the engine bay. You can see the raised side and how the alternator bracket is underneath. This is the driver side mount. Also, I don't know the correct reading of the "L" and "R". I do remember those markings though, but I didn't pay attention because I had everything placed in a certain order during tear down so I knew where things were to go.

This is the passenger side when it came out for rebuild. I don't recall that side being offset.

This is the best shot I have of the passenger side engine mount bracket while I was rebuilding. Again, I don't recall that side being offset, but i could be wrong.

As far as bolts and stuff, if you can't find them at the yard you can go to toyotapartseast.com and look up your vehicle. The images they have are great and give the bolt part no. so you can see what bolt to order and where it goes. Here's an example:

Also, mine is a 1992 22RE.....if a different year your brackets could be slightly different, not sure though.

Very informative. I wish I was smarter and not in such a haste/had the appropriate room for this. Also didnt help that another friend who was just trying to help me clean up picked/placed all the bolts into one pile when they were individually spread out into groups.

My truck is an 86, so Im sure there will be some slight differences. Thanks for all of the help. Ill definitely check that link out. Hopefully I can get what I need tomorrow, my truck has been sitting for over a month now and I cant afford to wait any longer.

On my 85 22RE rebuild that I just dropped in a couple weeks ago, I can confirm that on the right engine mount, there is a small round spacer that sits between the engine block and the upper forward bolt. Unfortunately, I can't sell you mine, and I can't give you an exact measurement on how thick it needs to be. If you placed a few washers in there, it wouldn't be "right" but it would probably do the job just as well, if you can't find the proper part.

Yup, Dylan is correct. I just typed your vehicle into the toyotapartseast.com site and there is the spacer. The year difference mattered.

Sweet, thanks for the confirmation fellas. Now I at least know what to look for amid the pile of bolts. What's even better with the p#s I can give them to my buddy who works at the Vw dealership and get them at cost. Saves a bunch of money. Hopefully the yard trip pans out tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the help guys, I'll post up in this thread if I have any other issues. Thanks a bunch! Now time to troll the classifieds for a bit

Nevermind, those prices are pretty much at cost already, aside from the brackets, the yota stealership near me wanted 8$ a bolt and such for flywheel/pp bolts. That website is pretty cool!

It looks like you figured it out but I'll tell you what I was scratching my head while my block was attached to the engine stand and I was putting all the accessories on it after rebuilding. I had the spacer for the passenger side because I was meticulous about labeling bolts and bagging them but the drivers side didn't make sense until I realized the alternator bracket goes on first and takes up the slack from the offset motor mount bracket on that side. I labeled everything but that didn't help me when it came to parts that overlapped and shared bolts. That PS bracket is a really PITA as well until you figure it out. This is what happens when you plan on a quick rebuild and instead life happens and it takes 6 months
