Hey guys I got a slight noise problem. Read below.

1987 Toyota 22R

Okay the last few days I been doing some major maintenance and upgrades to my little engine. Here is a list.

Replaced timing chain and guides
Replaced oil pump
Replaced head gasket
Installed weber 32/36
De-Smogged
New rocker arms
New cam

I installed a of this then adjusted my valves to 10 and 14 then started truck held rpms at 1500 to break cam in I done this 3 times as stated in instructions. Then I re torqued head and adjusted valves to 8 & 12 like instructions said. My valves still chatter. My truck never chattered before now it does. I've put about 200 miles on new cam and rechecked valve clearnce and I still have chatter.

Any ideas

Stethoscope, make sure its the valve to cam and not valves to head/valve-seat. Adjust to 7-11 cold, ear plugs, louder radio

Gonna assume it's the valve adjustment.

I know the book says "slight drag" but.. I go for full on can't get the feeler gauge out and back it off just a touch while pulling the feeler till the feeler slips out, then double check it didn't turn too loose and tighten it down. This eliminates any twist or flex that might be going on with the feeler gauge, or atleast most of it.

The angled type feeler gauges make the adjustment much more accurate than the flat ones.
