1990 Reg Cab 4x4 Pickup, 22RE 5MT

its been running good up until tonight. i drove a bit all electrical worked, truck ran great. parked it and came back to this:

turn on low beams, they dont work. switch on the high beams, idle becomes lower and bumping around, sounds like its not firing on all cylinders. switch off high beams, idle mellows out. so i have to drive home on high beams, no power at all, and the engine feels like its running on a few cylinders.

come home checked all the fuses, checked connectors and connections. started checking what grounds i could find. everything seems okay.

so it runs decent with the low beams, but they dont work. runs like crap with the high beams on and they do work.

we went down and fired it up turned on all the electrical stuff when it was running, and it sounded like crap like the distributor isnt getting enough juice.

going to check the altenator output tomorrow any other suggestions? like why would my lowbeams be out (both of them) and why the high's would work?

ended up being a bad relay, probably from a short since we found some light mod harness all chaffed thru. we removed the harness and used the orginal one, everything seems to work now. gotta get a new battery teminal before i drive it.
