Head Gasket stuff

That picture is the upper plenum of the intake manifold. Except for the throttle body, there is no coolant circulation associated with that plenum.
The lower plenum actually has coolant ports and circulates coolant between the heads. That is where a manifold coolant leak may travel to the combustion chamber and act like a blown H/G.
You say that there is oil in the rad and water in the engine, so I'm guessing your problems go deeper than just a faulty lower plenum gasket.

When I spoke with my local dealership before doing mine - our well seasoned parts guy said they didn't swap the head bolts when doing the V06 service campaign.
The other random tidbit was when he leaned in and whispered..."I'm not susposed to tell you this...but when we were doing lots of these and Toyota did send the parts fast enough - they told us to use FeelPro head gaskets." So I'm guessing Toyota might use re-branded FeelPro head gaskets

So I've been doing alot of researching, cost analyzing, and price checking. For the cost of a new head gasket, I can get a 3.4 at a wrecking yard, (approximately $200). With all the combined 3.0 to 3.4 swaps done, and reading about them I am confident that I am able to do the same thing. So, (with my g/f's permission of course) I'm going to go for the gold and join the 3.4 swap group
