Has anyone ever rattle canned there truck

I wanna paint my truck and I've seen a few rattle canned ones wandering if anyone on here has a pic of one and how hard it was to not let it run

I did a rattle can paint job twice and will likely never do it again. To me I think I'd get a much better result doing a roll-on paint job. One was blue the other was camo. Both took tons of cans and not very efficient IMO. Very hard to not get lines with the pattern you get from cans too.

DO NOT RATTLE CAN YOUR TRUCK!
At the VERY least, you can plasti dip. Just be sure to apply lots of coats

Mine is currently rattle canned. Think color selection makes a difference in end state. I went flat sand color, I'm not gonna win any custom paint job awards but I'm comfortable with that.

I four wheel a good bit little mud but have wide wheels so I sling rocks and mud I just don't wanna spend 1000 on a paint job that I will likely ruin

The problem with rattle can is youre not going to end up with a consistent color saturation. Why not go with plastidip? I'm not a salesperson for that brand, but I do trust the product well enough to use on my Harley Davidson. It goes on rather tacky, but as it dries it evens itself out. Flat black costs 8$ per can at pep boys and if youre not happy with it, just peel it off. But if you plan to actually paint your truck, you would have to sand down that rattle can plus the oem paint.

I rattle canned my truck many yrs ago and have been happy with it. If it starts looking bad or needs some touch up just spray away!
If your going to do it make sure you use flat colors and always use the same brand. Its a great alternative for us that dont care much on aesthetics.

Red face

Just about every vehicle I Owned got painted that way

Even though at one time I had Access to a state of the art Spray Booth.

It just is not me If I don`t have at least 3 different colors I am scared to drive it any place dangerous like Walmart or the grocery store

I off road my rig. So plasti-dip or bedliner isn't appealing as mentioned by W9 if I scratch or scrape or dent it then a simple fix and you can hardly tell, well minus dents. But plasti-dip and bedliner good luck with simple matching and covering so that it is even.

Rattle canned my Trekker several years ago, it took about 6 or 7 cans.
I sanded the entire truck down with I think 220 grit sandpaper first.
Like muddpigg mentioned, touch up is a no brainer. Especially when I decided to bob the truck..no seams:-)

Yes I did mine a few years ago. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I took a good deal of time to prep. Sanding, cleaning, priming, painting, wetsanding, and buff/wax. It has held up well over three years and can be easily touched up if need be. Like MuddPig said, I think color choice makes a big difference. I think lighter colors are easier to work with and show less tiger stripes. I will add a pic later on...

Before you go with aerosol cans, watch some vids of using a foam roller and marine paint.

The plastidip product is easy to work with too, especially if you spring for the light duty sprayer that works best with it. My friend had her Infiniti "dipped" and it looks great.

I've used their product in spray can to do my fiberglass top, to cover a crack repair. Came out fine. Kinda rubbery until you bathe it in Turtle Wax Ice.

I have rattled canned a coupl;e of vehicles and i have found that if you have a fan keeping the over spray out of the picture the paint job will turn out great however i have yet to find any rattle can paint that dosent fade for lack of hardned in the cans!

You want different? Hoo boy go watch videos from dipyourcar.com

They have different alright. And it cost like $900 vs $3500 to have it done by a bodyshop. Or DIY for way less.

She went with matte bermuda blue Pearl. Different for sure
