hard to start 22r

i pump it then crank crank crank crank crank crank, then it starts and runs fine, it only does it after it sits for a couple of hours. it does it when it is 20 outside or when it it 80. is there some kind of check valve in the fuel pump thats letting gas drain back to the tank?
also, how long would it take to change the rear main seal on a 2wd truck?

thanks in advance

troy

There is still going to be fuel in the carb bowl, so it's not a drain back issue

on the carb there wouldnt be a cold start injector. right? it would be the choke. so that would be another thing to check
