Ground Clearence 89' 4runner

My question is what is considered good ground clearence.

I did change my tires now I am running 31X10.5 BFG

I measured my clearence and I have almost 11inches off the ground to the stock skid plate...

Is this considered good???

How can a make it more and keep the car running well what are you experts recommendations?

Technically, ground clearance is measured at the lowest point, which is the bottom of the rear diff. There are only a few ways you can truly increase ground clearance:
- larger diameter tires
- go to a smaller ring gear/housing or shave the housing
- portal axles

Look under your truck and find where the metal has been scraped up the most. That's where you want to try and improve upon. My rear axle housing and diff are pretty chewed up, so I my case, bigger tires would be best. If you don't have scrapes, then you probably shouldn't be worrying about clearance just yet.
