The chopped and tube cab look awesome on there, take that idea and go with it.

Hmm, But im with al on the "your not getting a good reading" cause your motor was hot and all of it was in the top end..

Check it while its cold again, If there's really no leaks I dont see what could make it fubar in a roll..

 

Well my doors were fubar'd from kicking them open, so they're gone to scrap metal heaven. And yeah I think I made a welcome to the swamptaco thread. If not here's some pics:







And I just redid the tube cab pics to make them a little nicer, and a little closer the actual body lines I'll use, and the order in which I'll do the bends and whatnot:

Well I got good news, then I've got real good news. My buddy's gonna go ahead and drop in his spare 22re into my truck. Just gonna put all my carb stuff onto instead of trying to find a wiring harness and deal with all that headache. Then I can just rebuild the 22r that's in my truck right now and use it as a spare.

AND, I'm getting a dana 60 front and rear from my same friend for my toy axles. Apparently he HATES the wide stance and loves narrow toy axles for running trails. I've just gotta pick up whatever gears I want for it, and he's even gonna do the gears, and install the d60s under my truck for me. Gotta love it. Though I can't say he's getting screwed, he IS getting my toy axles with 5.29s, aussie locker, longfield shafts, and histeer arms.

So after he gets the my motor and axles going, then it's off to my other buddy's shop for all the tube/body work.

I like the cage configuration you have in the last picture. Then you can make some gate-like half doors (with strong hinges of course) to go between those two upright tubes.

I think that your going to want some more side protection. It might be a PITA to get into, but something like this would add a lot of strength to the cage and keep the people inside nice and safe.

 

Speedboat windshield... one of those little 6-8" tall thingies like you see on some ski-boats and some street rods...

 

That's a really good idea. Might look into doing that if I don't do tube doors.

Ohhhhh yeah! Wonder how well those really work. That's a damn good idea though.

 

Well those little low things seem to work OK on motorcycles... they don't protect very much from flying debris but they do supposedly deflect the air a little bit and provide a more comfortable ride with less buffeting...

 

im just sayin... but you could go oldschool jeep winshield, that can swing up and down

but i like the speedboat winshield idea w/ a low profile rear cage... sort of a converti-swamper thingy

 

Well I got it running and stopped the smoking and oil leaking. I turned it on, put a rock on the skinny pedal, and let it run for about 30 minutes. I think one of the exhaust valves had to have been stuck open or SOMETHING. Had to refill 4 quarts, but after it finally stopped smoking and hesitating and bumbleing down in the low ranges, it ran great and didn't loose anymore oil. So I think the universe may have evened itself out on that one.

I made a little block off plate for where my rearview mirror USED to be, and mounted up a replacement, so now I'm all street legal once again lol. Now I'm gonna go pick up some plexi and see what I can't do about that speedboat windshield idea.
