Good idler arms

I snapped a tie rod end in half the other day wheeling and now I have also noticed a bunch of play in my idler arm so i am replacing that before my alignment. But I have seen that some aren't very good quality. The TREs I bought are TRW from advance and they look like decent quality with limetime warranty. I saw in another thread that the MOOG idler arms suck and wear out very quickly. Is there one brand that sticks out other than OEM?

My plan is to get a aftermarket replacement and rebuild the OEM one with OEM parts because it isn't bent just the innards are shot. Then when the time comes put the OEM one back on.

Go to your local Toyota dealer and pay $15.00 for the new bushings and grease seal.

Rebuilt it using these instructions--

It takes about an hour. I have done it 3 times now. This last time I added an Allpro Gusset

I had my idler arm replaced after I got my recovered (from being stolen) truck back. I had a Downey Idler arm gussett installed as well (the exact same one in the photo), to help re-inforce the idler arm.

I just got one through WorldPac, an aftermarket Sankei, very heavy duty, install was a piece of cake.

I run the Downey idler brace that looks the same as the All Pro model.

Total Chaos has a nice idler arm. If I tweak mine again, that's the direction I'm going...

Agreed. I will be going the TC route myself, and am considering ordering one to have at home for when the time comes

agreed wholeheartedly on the TC. i put one in (see my sig link to my truck page for a picture of it in situ -- click the link to idler). it's beefy beyond my hopes for something tough. i'm 100% pleased.

Cut that crap off. The 3.4 destroys arms in a 1 day wheeling trip. I would imagine that a trip to 7-11 will trash yours with a 4.7.

The reality is that with all that power, you will have to re-build the front end stronger. Or you should have swapped in a 2.7. It has more horsepower than the 3.0

As funds allow, the IFS will depart. I have the axle and plan to build it up RIGHT! It needs gears, an ARB, hi-steer, 30 spline chromos, etc. In the mean time, I'll have to see about practicing rebuilding idlers blind folded I guess...

Oh, my engine is ONLY a 4.0.

Think about it. What's green and maybe has two middle fingers raised?
