Question Good idea, bad idea?

I have a 92 toyota pickup, longbed with a v6, 5speed with 33in tires. It has treated me good, the truck is in emaculate shape. The reason I've dicided to get rid of it is because we are expecting a new baby soon, and can't fit him in a single cab. My friend wants to trade me for an 89 4runner, 22re in diecent shape and I want to know if it would be a good trade? How hard would it be to take a kid in and out? My toyota had lots of power, how hard would it be to get about the same out of a 4cylinder?

Welcome to YT.

-Getting a kid in an out of the backseat of a 1st gen 4Runner will be like any 2 door backseat.
-how good of trade it would be: depends on how good of shape the 4runner is in. personally if it works out for you and both walk away from the trade happy and there is no cash out of pocket, sounds like a win/win for both.
--for us to tell you it is a gonna be a good trade need more info on the condition of the 4runner: mileage, has it been well maintained etc.
-There are a few tricks you can do to a 22RE to get some power, all depends on how much you want to spend.

Congrats on the new kid, being a dad is cool, a full time job and fun.

Nice truck. I love the black, love the long bed.

Personally, I would not do the trade if I were having a kid. It's a pain to get back there, let alone a car seat, then a baby. Then you need to think of safety. It would be more difficult and time consuming to get the baby out of there in an emergency then in a 4-door. Maybe someone would trade their 2nd gen 4runner for your truck. Or just sell your truck and you could easily get a decent 4runner for what you sell your truck for. Also, you could get another v6.

Do a search on here about modifying the 22re for more power. There is tons of info on here.
Welcome to YotaTech! and Congrats on the soon-to-be child.

Ditto on getting in and out of the back seat of the first gen. its a real pain. I still like them, awesome rigs. Kids are grown! They hate getting in the back of my 1st gen.s.
