Giving my 4Runner the shift (5spd conversion)

The R151 (flywheel to tcase) is in the garage, the pedals, drive shafts, shift boots (w56, so we'll see how well they fit) and hydraulic setup are in the back of the truck. The salvage yard had a complete 4Runner come in the day before I showed up, and it appears I beat quite a few folks to it; by the time I picked up the parts the next day (not a you-pull), he already had 4 people in line for my parts.

I also managed to score the same color, uncut SR5 door panels from an SR5 they had buried way in the back under a couple other cars. I should be able to cobble something decent from mine and those with the help of an upholstery shop.

I've spent a few months wanting to move the conversion forward, but didn't have time, or funds, or time, or the desire. Now that it's in the high 90s/low 100s every day... it all comes together!

I've taken a few performance measurements with the stock AT, it'll be very interesting to see how the 5 speed compares to the AT on acceleration, as well as mpg (I've seen as much as a 4mpg increase from a poster on our post your mpg thread, that was a 3vze).

I'm waiting for flywheel bolts to get delivered to my local Toyota dealer, and I'll be able to kick it off. Interestingly, pricing ranged from $1.68 each to $7.68 each depending on the dealer. Call around.

4sknrnnr's Yotatech thread has been hugely helpful, especially his how-to doc (scroll to the bottom of the page - all 71 pages sitting here on my desk). Just an FYI, the doc doesn't cover everything, there are some electrical additional details (like cruise control) in the thread. I'm super grateful to have this resource, and others, to start with.

My neutral safety switch already stranded me, so I've already bypassed it. I'm already on my way, it appears...

If anyone has any other electrical guides, please add them here. I'll consolidate it all into something readable and either partner with 4Sknrnnr to update his doc or throw it on my blog into one concise how-to.

I'm looking forward to this, but with trepidation. Let's see how it goes!
