getting to much fuel?
(22re) pulled the plugs and they smell like gas and are a bit black! If it is getting to much fuel ware to start pinning it down? All ideas are welcome also ways to test stuff out!

Check the 02 sensor, the computer uses it to read the air fuel ratio, if its bad it could cause your truck to run rich or lean, in your case rich, so i would start there first.

It wouldn`t be the injectors, try checking the TPS, the computer uses it to tell how far open the throttle is and responds with the amount of fuel needed for the throttle position. If its bad it could also throw things off.

Well on that checklist of things to check would be thermostat. Where has your temp needle been pointing? If on the cold side could be running in open loop and computer reading its cold thereby adding more fuel. Is the tailpipe also black and full of soot?

hey thanks guys good info here havent checked the TPS! But t-stat is new and it does runs kinda cold on the guage not to sure what the real temp is. One thing I did notice is when I first start it up it does blow a little smoke just at start up and its smells like fuel! Not oil at all.

Ok I check out my TPS to the chart on 4crawlers web site. I got no readings at all, with the right feeler guages and testing with my meter. Any ideas on that?
