Question General Question regarding my Cheapishness

So, a while back, the tip of my exhaust fell off whilst driving, due to being old and rustier than a sunken battleship.
The other day I noticed that the bracket just before the (now non-existent) tip has detached itself from the rest of the exhaust.

Now it seems like it's only a matter of time before the rest falls apart.

The question here is, should I man-up and replace the exhaust now, or wait for the inevitable when the muffler falls off in hopes that I do the engine swap before it gets a chance to finish disintegrating.

I just don't feel like dropping $300-ish into an exhaust if it isn't going to be in use for longer than a (relatively) short while.

Color Me Cheap, but I just need some opinions.

It's not so much replacing it piece-by-piece, but moreso I would rather spend that money on an exhaust for the new engine, when I get there, rather than on one for this setup, and then one for the new setup down the road.

Go get some metal banding and some self tapping screws and rig it up, lol.
When it comes time to take it off, you can just yank the whole thing off, lol.

cost me $150 plus $30 for a muffler to have my 2.25" custom done. Now add another $100 for a high flow cat and maybe $40 to put it on and I will be set.

I say wait till it falls off. If its not bothering you, why worry about it. How close are you to a motor swap?

why not just set up the exhaust for the motor swap you plan to do? or from the cat back have it ready for the new motor.
