The Vortec 4.3 has an impressive torque plateau from ~1200-4200rpm, so that is the window to aim for with highway cruising rpm. From what little I could find as far as a BSFC numbers, the sweet spot for a non-marine 4.3 seems to be between 2000 and 2600rpm. Since your highway rpm is already in there, I doubt gearing is going to make a significant improvement. I find that modifying the nut behind the wheel generally offers the quickest improvement in economy. For example, if you can do it safely, try driving 60 instead of 65. Reducing wind drag helps a lot too, like removing roof racks(or boats ) when they're not needed. Tall, aggressive offroad tires are a big detriment to economy as well.

Everything is a tradeoff. Offroad prowess comes at the expense of pavement manners and fuel economy.

You dish out verbal abuse more than you share anything useful. There's nothing amazing about you beyond your hypocrisy.

I don't care that someone recorded an anomalous economy number. I likewise didn't call them a liar because I wasn't there and I don't think you were either. Is it repeatable? I don't know. Was it accurate? I don't know. Should everyone else expect similar results? No, but it didn't warrant your belligerence, either.

Did you read the thread? Start there, its usually were people start when they want to start there suprised you didnt know that, i guess.

I might get a little carried away every now and again (and I do), but I would never purposely mislead anybody on here.

I do agree, it sounds like he's got the right gearing, and no need to change anything.
