I've been working on my 1993 4runner for a while now and haven't been running it. Went to start it yesterday and nothing. Put the battery on the charger and today still nothing. Check the battery and it's charged.

I have parking/healights, dome lights, and key buzzer. Nothing else.

I have blown the 80 amp fuse in the past so I figured that was the culprit. It's fine. I have been reading about the fusible link from the battery to the 80 amp fuse. I would assume that was the culprit but I have 12 volts at the 80 amp fuse. Could the link be broken but still provide some power, or is it when they break they break completely?

I have checked all the fuses both under the dash and under the hood.

I could really use some help. Thanks in advance.

 

As I was down in the garage staring at it I remembered something.

Couple weeks ago I was trying to open up the hole size of the drivers inner fender to run the snorkel through. There's a harness that runs through the inner fender into the engine bay. The hole saw jumped on me and nicked a few wires in that harness. Nothing got cut completely, but some insulation was ripped off.

I did my best to cover each wire individually with electrical tape before wrapping the harness itself.

Question. Does anyone know what wires are in the harness so I can determine if it's worth tearing apart? Or have an idea what I can search to try and find out? Unfortunately it's not very easy to get the fender off because of the snorkel, so if I can avoid it I would prefer to.

 

If something works, then the fusible link wire is good.

Not completely cut is not good enough. If the last surviving strands overheat and melt you could have a problem when you least want it.
All wires should have absolutely no cut if your vehicle is to be as reliable as a Toyota, so I would go back and inspect each and every wire is intact.

I'm pretty sure power from the fuse block go to the switches in the cabin through that harness in that hole.

Went back through the harness. Repaired 3 wires. Problem remains.

Something is keeping power from getting to the cabin. I'm stumped.

 

Time to break out the schematic and voltmeter.
