Fuse box and wiring diagrams needed

I need a wiring diagram for a 1988 4runner, and a fuse box diagram. I'm sure the wiring has been messed with beyond belief so I need to get stuff figured out

Search and

Buy a FSM or find one online.

Try AutoZone's only repair guides.

This should not be hard to find with some effort on your part.

I guess I just have faulty wiring to the back gate. The back window and license plate light don't work. I found the wires disconnected to the rear window but when I connected them the window worked when I crossed terminals but no license plate light. When my headlights are on my rear interior light stays on so I have a feeling that light should go to the plate.

the rear light being on with the headlights could also be due to the deck lamp switch under the dash.

88 wiring diagrams (added links, not embedded images due to image resolution and file sizes). right click and save file.

The rear interior light has a switch on the dash lower left. It has an orange circle on it. My FSM is a 1986. What wiring sections are you looking for?

I need to find the wires that go to the wiper and rear window buttons, and from there to the back gate. is the license plate light powered by the same source? i could care less about the window. im more worried about the light.

the license plate lights are powered by the same wire that runs the marker lights.
it's shown on the diagram I posted above, chassis 1- it's a green wire that feeds a green/blue striped wire to the license plate lights.
