funny noise

funny noise

1986 22re....with the ignition switch on (not running) there is a noise coming from around my intake...it sounds like fuel spraying (wich my explain my truck getting crappy gas milage) so i was wondering if it is supposed to do this, ive never noticed it b4...thanks

it sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is the one dumping the fuel...what would cause this???

Maybe your Main relay is stuck on. That relay controls the fuel pump and may be turning it on when the key is on instead of when the engine is cranking. The relay is above the kick pannel on the passenger side under the dash.
Do you here a click when you turn the key to run position. If that is the case you have a wiring problem.

i dont think i hear a click but the fuel pump is kicking on when i turn it to the "on" position and it stays running for however long you let it sit there....i will check out the relay...thanks

The pump should not come on until cranking (Air Flow Meter sees flow).
