We are kinda in the same boat, i put on my 32" today for hte first time, and ive noticed i gotta give it a little more ummph at lights/take offs. Not like riding my clutch out for a while, but just more than i needed to when i had my 30"s

That is good to hear!
I just hope I didn't damage the clutch in such a short time. Especially since I paid a shop to do it.
I am going to switch out the tires some time this week and see what happens. If it is back to normal with the old tires and rims. I will wait to re gear the thing and put the SS's back on after that.
Weird. I have never heard of this happening.

Well, im just thinking, if stepping up to 32's made you have to have your clutch slip more in order to not stall, you may be getting the clutch really hot. Notice any clutch smell when taking off? etc...

I think the best bet would be to switch back to smaller tires and see if it makes a difference. It may take a little while if the clutch has been overheated, isn't it possible to affect the surface of the clutch with overheating? so maybe the smaller tires will help you be easier on the clutch. idk, just throwing out some ideas

Well think about it, it needs way more power to turn over these bigger offroad tires then a stock all terrain. Im debating how much longer i can run before i want to switch back to my 30"s and regear to.

well, even with my 32s and 4.56 gears, i have to feather the clutch out in order to get moving off a light... it has gotten a tad bit worse since i switched from my 31s... one thing i noticed is when doing a roll thru in second gear at a stop sign, my truck studders if i get below 12 mph or so... i didnt do that before...

i just chalk it up to needing a bit more power to get the rotating mass spinning...

no sarcasm, i thought you said you put 32's on and it was fine for a year, and now its progressively getting worse. so i figured that the small change in tire size was irrelevant.

Huh, well i don't feel, bad. I hardly notice a difference with 33's and steelies.

Only noticeable difference is trying to pull hills. But good thing im getting new gears right now!

lol

Well you need to setup the whole diff.

Um a shop would probably charge 200-300 to setup each diff, not including parts. Thats my guess on pricing though.

heres a link to check out.

I can't believe no one has asked this question yet:

Are you certain it's not an engine problem? I mean, if you had no problems when you put the 32"s on and it got worse, wouldn't that indicate a problem that's causing your engine to have no low rpm power??

Well, that was MY first guess.....many times this condition can be caused by having the timing advanced too far. Have you checked or changed it from 10 degrees BTDC?

I'll throw out a guess too. I bet you started slipping the clutch a little more when you put the larger tires on, but it wasn't that noticeable because the clutch was fairly new and could take the abuse, then over time it wore faster than normal and possibly started warping, after a long trail ride and creek crossing. Then you "progressively got to where you are now. Best bet is to put the smaller tires on there. If it fixes it stick with those until you can re gear before you trash your clutch. If it doesn't, you probably need a new clutch, or engine work. Try take offs on flat ground slight incline and slight decline. It seems to me if it were an engine problem there would be problems during other driving scenarios too not just take off???
Good luck.
I just finished installing a marlin clutch, it works great, not to bad to get the tranny out, but reinstall is a 3 man job. I did it by myself, but I don't recommend that.
If you re gear you might as well pull the clutch too. You have half the work done with the diff out of the way. You can get the tranny out with out completely removing the front diff, but it takes some maneuvering. If you are going to do that you might as well fix all the lower end leaks too.
Again good luck.

Today I went to the shop that did the work and the owner of the shop took it for a drive (he was amazed there was an issue with this truck so soon so he personally wanted to drive it). He said basically the same thing you did. At some point within the past year and after I switched out the tires I did something to the clutch to create a "hotspot or two." He also said "a bit of oil may have sprayed up and is causing it to chatter." He looked at the bell housing there is nothing odd going on there. He said "it will be an annoyance but shouldt fail any time soon."
So, thats great.
@^$@&^*&!^(**#(&(&)&*@%!!!!
I should or would have done this clutch myself and saved the damn labor charge and I would not be so mad right now but at the time I was on a job and needed the truck.
Sucks.
Now I need a new clutch.
hey Tribizwiz do you live in Northern California??

In the morning the old 30's go back on with the stock wheels
For hell sakes!
In the meantime I am getting ready to pull the thirds, buy the gearset, and an Aussie locker for the rear.

I feel I will be demeaned and defeated. I may even lose sleep over it. What a nightmare.
Oh well, it will make me hurry up with the gear swap. I just have to lowride though town from now until then.
