Full weekend of wrenching, looking for additional insight

I have a very full weekend ahead of me. Items in red are done.

1) New Radiator, hoses, thermostat, coolant, etc..
2) PS cooler

3) Valve Adjust
4) Spark Plugs
5) Wheel Bearing Pack
6) Warn Hub rebuild (maint only)

7) Paint sliders
8) Prep rig for sliders
9) get sliders welded on
10) Reinstall Alpine head-unit
11) Full exaust (LCE Header, Flowmaster 60 series, Magnaflow Cat)
12) Install Tru Flow Air Filter
If I have time, and find wire I like
13) 400w Inverter
14) Speedo correction
If I really have time
15) Find the leak in my OBA
16) MAF Cleaning

With the exception of the PS Cooler I have done all of these before, but am always looking for easier/better ways to do things. So why not probe my buddies here for some info.

I will try to post progress and pics thruout the weekend. I know its not that exciting, but still lots of stuff to get done before Memorial Day

As a general rule I start with the most difficult, time consuming task. Then I look at my list and evaluate if I'm in the same area of the truck to do anything else on the list.

For maintainence things I just work from one end to the other, letting things that need to drip down, drip down. I always write "filled" next to items that have been filled, diffs, etc. I've seen too many guys drain something out, then forget to fill it back up.

Some other techs I know like to alternate from easy to hard stuff to give them a sense of accomplishment. I like to save the easy stuff for last. My 2 cents.

I've got no idea what SeeBeeAre is trying to say, put down the beer and walk away... lol

Well, so it begins. The two biggest things are the radiator and header, and since both provided room for each other, and its easiest to get to the block drain bolt with the manifold off I am going to work on the two of those, then start going down the list :-)

SO far so good, in the last hour I have gotten the exhaust compleatly out, the radiator out. All went well, only one bolt was gauled and it was an air injection bolt. Other than that the manifold is in great shape, and for sale now.

Alright, so after I added one gallon of coolant I realized that the PS cooler hoses were run right where the overflow tank sits, ˟˟˟˟˟!!! So, I didnt want to drain the radiator, so I unbolted it, moved it foreword and removed the stock PS cooler and ran the new big PS cooler hoses thru that opening. 2.5 hours later, what a bummer, I finally got it done, for the second time.

The header is in, and IS IT LOUD!!! I think I pissed the neighbors off doing a lap around the block to burp the radiator and the PS resivoir. Open headers will do that. Now I have to firgure out how the rest of the exhaust will go on, the connector pipe from LCE wont work at all, it hits the torsion bar bracket, unless the O2 sensor isnt designed to point straight up. But the o2 sensor has to go back soon, even 20 seconds driving with the check engine light is annoying.

More pics, and maybe a video of open header to follow.

First coat of POR-15 is on. Just waiting for the second, hopefully only another hour.

Got the stereo in, but it looks like it went bad while sitting this past year. The face place slides out to let a CD in, and now it wont close. It worked for the first time, then jammed somehow?? but I did find my big and rich CD.

Looks like I will have to tear the dash apart again...DOH

Wheel bearings and hub rebuild will happen tomorrow as soon as I get back from the exhaust shop, who will also hopefully be attaching my sliders for me.

Exhaust is done... I had to drive to the exhaust shop this morning with ear plugs in. IT SOUNDS SWEET. It's very mild, which is what I wanted, but with a great flowmaster tone.

Sliders are welded on. Something must be tweaked with my frame or the slider since the pass one had to go 1.5" further aft than the driver side, I am sure I am the only one who will notice, and it still does the job..

Pics to follow.... of to repack wheel bearings

I am down to the valves and the not so necessaries....I also discovered I need a new cap/rotor/wires (ouch), even though these are only 10K old, two of them are corroreded in the rotor, and one fell out on the way to the exhaust shop, open header with one missing sounds AWEFUL..... but nevertheless I will be ready to camp come friday.
