Fuel pump sender outlet fittings

Could anybody with a 89-95 veezy who has easy access to the top of their fuel tank let me know what the thread size/pitch of the delivery line fitting is? I need to get an adapter to convert it to an AN fitting and would like to have the parts at hand before I pull my bed off..

I'm in the middle of this project myself and spent quite a bit of time determining the size fittings on the "fuel pump tube." I can tell you with 100% certainty, that this tube has 1/4" NPT male pipe fittings on each end. Some may refer to the specific male threads as 1/4" MPT. Hope this helps folks out in the future!

Jfyi, my rig is a '94 4Runner 3.Slow 2wd.

The adapter I linked to above (M14 x 1.5 to 6 AN) worked perfectly for me. Not sure why yours is pipe thread but I don't think that's stock

Ok... so much for having 100% certainty about the fittings being 1/4" NPT! The factory male fittings on the truck (the one that goes into the top of the tank and the one that goes up the frame to the fuel filter) are definitely, positively -6AN!

I was wrong, so much of what I wrote in the post below is incorrect! 1/4" NPT as well as M14-1.50 threads are very, very close to -6AN and are interchangable (or I should say, will work!) in many cases, but NOT when trying to fit a -6AN Male into a 1/4" NPT Female!

Please accept my appologies and disregard my suggestion to purchase a custom made flexible line with 1/4" NPT fittings on each end. Instead get a custom made 18" flexible fuel line with -6AN FEMALE threads on each end. This will work perfectly!

Well... we're both sort of right actually!

One of the many things I learned while doing this project, is that M14 nuts and bolts with 1.50 pitch, will match up perfectly with 1/4" NPT pipe thread! As a matter of fact, I was using an M14 - 1.50 lug nut as a coupler before I realized that 1/4" pipe thread is actually the way to go.

Generally speaking, the M14 option is fine, but if you had to choose, the NPT is definitely preferred. That's because apparently, pipe thread is tapered (ever so slightly) so the more you tighten it, the better seal it makes.

Nuts and bolts are designed more for holding things together, not necessarily for sealing them which is necessary for air and hydraulic lines and fittings.

What I did, and what I would highly reccomend to anyone else who does this job, is called a place that makes custom hoses and hydraulic lines with whatever fittings you need. I called "Airline Hydraulics" in York, Pa. and got a stainless steel, flexible line (about 18") with 1/4" male NPT fittings on each end (Make sure at least one end has a swivel), and it works better than the factory line... for $25.00 plus tax!!

One thing I should have mentioned in my last post, is that you'll need a 1/4" NPT female coupler on each end so you can connect it to the male lines on the truck. Actually, in hind sight, maybe 1/4" FEMALE NPT fittings would have been even better!

I have a picture of the line (complete with M14 lug nut coupler threaded onto the end!!) but I can't seem to upload it!
