Fuel Pressure Regulator?

I was working on a 22re and I forgot to hook up the return line to the fuel pressure regulator. I turned the key on to prime the system but I did not start the engine. When I turned the key off gas started spilling out of the return line hook up on the FPR. There was no vacuum applied and the engine was not started. Was that supposed to happen or is the fuel pressure regulator bad?

So the fuel pressure regulator keeps some pressure in the line in front of it, right?
And if the fuel pressure regulator sees there is too much pressure in the line, it does what with the extra fuel?

(hint: return fuel back to the tank)

lol, no you're fine, but that'll tech you to leave open fuel lines unhooked wont it

two things to never leave exposed; 1) open fuel lines, and 2) constant hot wires charged with 12v

ESPECIALLY if the two are close by one another

OK so its supposed to do that. I didnt think it sent fuel back to the tank unless it had vacuum applied to it. Thanks
