Fuel not making it the whole way.

Ok so I have been having starting issues on this 88 3vze pickup I got. I hadnt ran in 10 or so years so keep that in mind.
So far I have replaced...
-Timing belt
-Fuel pump
-Fuel filter
-Cleaned out the gas tank
-1 spark plug that broke off

So up until I broke the spark plug I had no idea why the truck refused to start. Well I decided to take the plug I had installed back out and see if is smelled like gas or anything. I didn't and looked the same as I put it in. So this led me to believe that the gas is stopping somewhere. I know I have fuel all the way up to the fuel filter but after that I am not sure where it stops. I checked the cold start injector and had nothing there was bone dry. So I am lost where could my gas be stuck?

O and the truck does run I shot some starter fluid in it and it started up and died once it ran out of starter fluid.

Check the hard fuel line that comes up off the FPR. (Pretty sure it comes off the FPR) Crack the bolt loose and turn the ignition over to see if fuel's coming out. If it is, see if you can hear the injectors firing. Check the connections on the injectors if they're not firing.

Ok so I rechecked the cold start injection and realized the first time I loosened the wrong bolt so I checked the right one this time and fuel came flying out. Then I checked what I am pretty sure is the FPR or a bolt right next to it and fuel came out of there. Wasnt to sure if I could hear the injectors firing or not but I am not sure how to check the connections on them anyway lol.

Anymore ideas? Will I just have to tear it down and get the injectors cleaned?

**EDIT** I also tossed in some injector cleaner with the gas to see if that would help but not really lol

if you got fuel all the way up to the injectors then there probably clogged or you have a couple bad ones.

I guess it is possible for All the injectors to be clogged but never seen it myself.

check the injectors one by one .
INJECTORS INSPECTION
1. MEASURE RESISTANCE OF INJECTOR
Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance of both
terminals.
Resistance:
13.4–14.2 W

So I guess this means I have to tear the engine apart to get to them huh? I also checked to see if I had codes and only came up with 51

well he said it hadn't rain in 10 years so gas has probably broke down in the injectors.

code 51 can be a throttle position sensor or neutral switch(automatic trans. only) Terminals from left to right( flat outside at top) are Vcc,VTA,IDL,E2. Specs for resistance are measured at certain clearance from the throttle arm to the stop screw. 0mm. VTA-E2 0.2-0.8 k ohms .57mm IDL-E2 less than 2.3 k ohms. .85mm IDL-E2 infinity/open fully open VTA-E2 3.3-10 k ohms any position VCC-E2 4-9 k ohms

Ok I tried looking around on Google cause I didn't want to seem like such a newb but couldn't find it.

How do I go about testing the fuel injectors. I have a meter and im pretty sure I can use it but where do I connect it? I looked to see if I could find a write up on it but didn't see anything.

If I have to change them is it similar to doing the HG? If so I will just do that too while I'm down there.

i dont really know how to check them but, to take them off you should only have to take the fuel rail off not the heads

You can only realy test for excessive resistance in the injector, as it was explained above. You can pull the injectors, get them tested and renewed but it is very unlikely for all injectors to be blocked.

well if fuel has sat in the injectors for more than 10 years without being cranked than its more than likely broken down.

i would still have them pulled and renewed just to eliminate problems

Yea I decided I will start the process and pull them tomorrow. I saw a breakdown somewhere that gave step by step directions to get to them but I cant seem to find it now. Any body happen to have something like this?
