Thumbs down Fuel filter location

I can NOT for the life of me find the fuel filter on my 87' 4runner.
I have the 2.4 fuel injected engine, non-turbo. The local parts store had a large canister fuel filter for my year model. It appears to bolt on.
I can not find anything like it on the vehicle...
HELP

It is under the intake and above the starter on the pass. side.

Jack up and support pull off pass front tire, remove little viewing window and look up.

Welcome to Yotatech!!

Ahh, the joys of the fuel filter on the 22R-E!! It's good times you know!! lol! Yup, like stated above that's how you'll do it. Or pull the motor, which ever is easier for you! LOL!! Have a cup ready to catch the excess fuel.

Also crack the inlet and outlet banjo bolts before unbolting from the block, makes way easier......having a set of metric flare-nut wrenches also guarantees that you won't round off those bolts.

Like raydouble said its beneath the intake manifold and above the starter, kind of behind it actually. You'll definately want to pull off your front passenger tire, maybe the starter as well. Have fun with this one man...

Welcome. Also make sure you get the old washers off the banjos so you don't double up.
Have fun.

It should take you 30 minutes or less to change, its not as hard as it looks.

Don't forget to loosen the gas cap before you start loosening fuel lines.

Btw, a body lift turns this job into a 10 minute one. Stock it will take a while.

Fuel filter location-motor.jpg

Here it is! Its real easy to change, if the motor is on a stand. Otherwise like these guys said, go in through the passenger wheel well, and break those fittings loose BEFORE you unbolt it from motor, pretty straight foward

THANKYOU GUYS TONS.....
I lucked out and did not have to change the fuel filter, seems a plug wire was shorting causing my issues..... I will be changing it in the near future though seeing how I have already purchased the filter and lost the receipt
Thanks again...
