Question fuel filter help 22ret

I can not find mention of a fuel filter in my factory service manual ? can any one tell me where the fuel filter is located on a 86 4Runner turbo or direct me to a write up ? also a part number for the fuel filter would be helpful if any one has it.

Thanks

I'm guessing it's on the passenger side of the block right by the starter like on the 22RE.

I'm pretty sure the part number is the same. Call the dealership with your vin and they can tell you.

Yeah, it's not impossible,,,,,,,I just did it myself. take the small fender plate off, get yourself a 1/4" drive T - Handle wrench or ratchet and a couple of at least 6" extensions or 1 long 16" or so and a 1/4" swivel and 12MM (short) socket. remove the fuel lines before you loosen the bolts going in the block or you will have a hell of a time trying to hold it and turn the wrenchs at the same time. good luck and a little patience goes a long way. PS it wasnt even my problem, turns out there is no gas getting from the tank to the filter. now to remove the gas tank........................

take off the inner fendwer well panel

Loooong extensions with a flex head fron the FRONT of the engine
lie down on the top of the engine and reach in with two hooked together wrenches to reach the rear bolt

ONLY two bolts hold the filter in

LOOSEN the fuel banjos before removing the mounting bolts...
