Front end compatability

Anyone know off hand if the front headlight/light assymbly/grills from 1990-91 4 Runners are interchangable with the 1992-1995 4 Runners?

I just like the look of the earlier models, but its not easy to locate them. I would like to be able to expand my search to the 1992-95 models if the parts will exchange.

Its difficult finding a good used 4 Runner here in NC from the mid 80s and early 90s (at least one I would like to drive around in).

Looking for a clean, well maintained and cared for vehicle to use as a daily driver. I see lots of mid 90s for sale on CraigsList, but not as fond of the front look of the vehicles.

Thanks in advance for any info....

Anything is interchangeable if you work hard enough at it

But to be more precise, the worst you're going to have to do is modify the radiator support. You are switching from a simple sealed beam to a contoured, aerodynamic H4 housing (or are you saying the other way around?). Being able to mount the headlights will be your worst. And if you think about that, how hard could it be? Drill a few holes? Cut an opening slightly larger? OR, switch the radiator supports out too to keep it correct. Drill a few spot welds out. Tack the enw support in. Square up the front and plumb the support. Spot weld it up and down and you're good to go

I've seen two examples where 84-88 owners use the 92-95 front end... and that's not even the same generation of truck! I DO know that the corner lamps are going to be different. I've been told how they fasten to the grille has changed between the 91 and 92 front ends.

The bumpers are different too, but I don't think that will matter.

I figured the headlamp "bucket" would be the big pain in the arse. I am looking to go from the contoured headlamp (flush with grill and sidemarker) to the sealed beam lamp (recessed into a bezel assymbly) Basically making a 92-95 model look like a 90-91 model.

I was hoping that the removal of the flush housing would allow the install of the bezel, and an adjustable "bucket" assymbly mounted to the core support to hold a standard sealed beam lamp.

I guess I need to look closely at a newer model and see how much of a pain it would be to modify.

Thanks for the info.
