Size: 55.1 KBive been seaching the forum and internet for info and i have a couple questions. First is this the right seal? Name: Screenshot_2013-03-18-15-12-37_zps6afb0542.png

Im going to attempt this with the diff in the truck. Ive got all the tools and skills but this is the first fix on the yota. Ive read that excessive play means a bad bearing, how much is excessive? I got under the truck today and they is more play in the leaking side than the other. Also what is with the 5.5mm depth of the seal? All the threads i read are years old and the pictures dont show and no links work either. Also is there a link to an fsm that works? The page with all them doesnt work.

You should have very little to no play, I would suspect a bad diff side gear. Here is an fsm link http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/

Clogged diff breather or water in your front diff.

It could be a seal. Being that temps are rising over here on the west coast it could also be that you have water in your diff. Have you done a diff breather mod yet ?? Have you been 4x4 in water this winter that could have been higher that your diff. ( streams, creeks, puddles ) here in Az we currently have 34 degree nights 75-80 Degree days. If you have water in your diff pressure is going to build up and its going out the least resistance possible. I would drain your diff make sure the diff breather if not clogged and see if that fixes it before tearing apart to fix that seal. Also do you have manual or auto hubs.

clean it out real good with some brake clean and hopefully that should fix it. If not next more expensive step. Also get that breather mod done its to cheap to not do it. It will save you from having to do more expensive jobs later. ( seals, bearings, both front and rear).

a wheel hub socket with a dead blow hammer works perfectly to install the seal. Then use a big pin punch to finely tap it in. I did this a couple weeks ago, but I was swapping diffs and had them out of the truck.
You can't use a block of wood or traditional seal installer b/c of the protruding rubber lip in the center of the seal.

Ok so my breather was clogged. I cleaned it thoroughly. Drained the fluid, it looked surprisingly clean. Filled her back up, no signs of leaking. Ill report back tomorrow if it starts to leak.

devilmans hand is that the right seal? If it needs to be replaced

sorry for the late reply. My browser has blocked YT for the last couple days due to malicious code present.

the part number for the seal I used is 90311-35032, and appears to be the same part that you have.

Cheers. remember to grease/oil the seal, OD and ID before you install. I used a hooked seal puller to remove that one. If you're high speed, you can get a little seal puller attachment for about $5 that attaches to a 3/8" ratchet
