Front diff drive flange seal

I have a 87 4x4 pickup and I need to get the drive flange out to replace the seal and bearings. My manual says to use a slide hammer with a special tool that fits onto the flange. I just want to make sure there isn't a circlip or retainer that will be busted off if I use that slide hammer. Has anyone replaced the passenger drive flange seal and if so can you let me know how to get it separated from the front diff? thanks

Just because you weren't clear, the seal can be changed while the diff is still in the truck, but to change the bearings, you have to remove the 3rd from the truck. And dont forget to re-set up your gears after.

Hope that helps!
