Hitting the bump stop occasionally is to be expected, but that should be more dependent on speed and the size of the bump than simply a 'bump'.

yep, those are what I'm speaking of. they are typically found on lowered ricers, and prevent the shock from fully compressing (and likewise, the suspension of the vehicle they are on).
Ah, I get what you're saying now. We are coming at this from two slightly different angles. I completely agree with you, now that I understand what you are telling me. My truck doesn't bottom out on every bump, just the bigger ones, which is to be expected. What is the difference, as far as suspension is concerned, between using those jounce bumpers and replacing two of the factory bumpstops with progressive foam bumpstops? They both are made of the same material and serve the same purpose from different locations in the suspension.

I did some fab work with some universal bump stops. I was originally planning to cut them down but I found that they were soft enough to give a nice progressive function to them.
