Just figured it out...how far is the forest from the Tampa area?
The Ocala National Forest (ONF) is about an hour and a half from Tampa.

Check out the Suncoast Flat Landers group. We go on rides fairly often with some trips outside of FL to Telleco, River Rock and even Moab.

www.suncoastflatlanders.com

Most of the guys here do drive Jeeps but there are a few Toyota's in the group. They are very open and welcome everyone.

I was camping in ONF just this past week; Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thur; Alexander Springs and Silver Springs... very disappointed to see all the signs that say "Vehicles on paved roads only"; but it was a camping trip, not a wheeling trip, lol.

There are a few of us that run Corbett and Bamboo quite often, both are close to stuart.

Sounds pretty cool, where abouts are Corbett & bamboo? Whats it like (mud, sand) etc?
You'll have to let me know when you plan on going next time, and I will try and make it.

Did I hear Stuart? I now live in Jupiter and that pretty close to Stuart as well. I Know of Corbitt but Bamboo? An there was another place called whispering trails. A rover buddy was talking about it but I have no idea where it is. Typically the 4Runner does not like mud but sand is ok to an extent. So inkman do you live in Stuart? and totally off topic but what kind of mpg's do you get with 285's and 4.56's?

If any of you guys are around/near/or willing to drive to Ocala there is going to be a big get together at Hard Rock that weekend with the FATTshack guys. I'll probably spend at least a day there but most of them will be camping out the whole weekend.

Should be a little bit of everything. And it should be 90% Toyota too. They're a good bunch of guys, very laid back.

They're just too hard core to post on here.

Take a look at post #18 in this thread and there is info about them and others. Corbett is usually deep water and sugar sand trails. It's a WMA, so look at the FWC website for that info. $3 for a day pass by yourself or $6 for a vehicle full of people. You can also get a management area permit that is good all year (at all WMAs) at the same place you get hunting/fishing licences.

Bamboo is $20 a day or $30 for a weekend (Fri-Sun). I usually just go camp there for the weekend, it's well worth it. Looks like they have a new website. I just got an e-mail from the owner with the updated link
http://bamboofestnthemud.com/default.aspx

I've been going on local runs with these guys lately:
http://theswampthings4x4club.com/forum/
They have Corbett runs all the time. Bamboo not so much but maybe once a month.

I'm in Jupiter

Aaron, yeah I live in good ole stuart.
I'am getting roughly 15-17mpg around town and maybe 18-19 highway. I tend to drive a bit conservative around town. I'am not to much into mudding, but my 4runner does pretty good in the sand. Would be nice to hit up some places in the area soon though. Been thinking about ONF also, lived in florida for 27 years and never have been.

I was in ONF 2 weeks back and most of the fun stuff is closed and all that is left is a crap load of sand trails. Just sand and some more sand.
