I was driving my 88 Auto 4runner the other day and I noticed the overdrive light on the dash right above the radio was flashing. I'm sure it's trying to tell me something but I don't know what it means? I don't want to ignore it and tear something up. Thanks for y'all's help!

 

Is your tranny shifting like it should?

 

It seems to be shifting fine, but I am waiting on some new tires before I really take it out and drive it.

 

the codes are for electrical problems with speed sensors and solenoids. It can't tell you if there is a mechanical problem with a solenoid. If it is shifting fine, it's probably a speed sensor. To pull a code you have to ground the square plug below, I'm not sure about '88 but this is for my '86.


here are the codes, the should be the same for '88.

 

When pulling codes, ground that plug, switch ignition on with the OD turned on and it will blink the code.
