flashing cel?!?

ok so bear with me this is my very first thread
well lets start by saying i had my muffler off for about 3 months so the cel light was on and i didnt think anything of it cause the rear sensor was unpluged long story short i had the headgasket replased about o month or so ago and i put the muffler back on and the cel has been on and i had the mech check what it was and he said something about a slow ign circut and an o2 sensor ive been ona really tight budget as of late and havnt been ablt to get it looked in to but i just took a trip out to the saltin sea from orange counrt (about a 300 mile round trip and on my way home i looked down and the cel was off ? and then it came on and then went back off then started flickering and blinking on and off since it had been on for so long i just kept driving and now im home and did a quick search on the cel and came up with nothing anyone have any idea what would casue it to blink like that?
thanks alot

Mine does the exact same thing yours does too. I need a new O2 sensor, i just have not gotten around to it. Get a new O2 sensor (DENSO not BOSCH!)

Also, wheres the pics?!

Yeah, you can check the CEL on your own. Search for trouble codes.

The light can flash if whatever is causing it to come on is an intermittent problem. If real, it should have stored a code in the ECU.

if the cel is flashing while driving it means there is a misfire bad enough to melt down the cat. find the diag connector under the hood and short the pins labeled e1 &te1. count the number of times the cel flashes and that should be you trouble codes.

So if you know what the code is then would you care to share with the rest of us? An answer is only as good as the exactness of the question asked. Seriously, do you expect one of us to be able to diagnose your blinking cel going off of, "it just started blinking".

C'mon, pull the code and that will give you (and us) a starting point.

Wow is all I can say.

You have been given the answers several times, by several members, and you still refuse to do it. Keep in mind our advice is free. This kind of adive costs you $75/hour at a shop, and I know there are several hours of responses here. If you like, you can paypal me $75 and I'll give you all the advice you could possibly need. That said;

PULL THE EFFIN CODE

And figure out what it means! I ALREADY told you i have the EXACT same problem in my 86 and its the O2 sensor.

if you want help, dont come on here asking for it, then insult our knowledge of the Toyota product. take our advice, and do what we say. When the things we suggest do not work, then you can say we are all idiots. In the mean time, pull the code, and you will be able to pin point the problem!

I had mine do the same thing, but it was a code 21, if I'm looking at the right codes that's a sub o2 sensor signal? Possible that there might be crud on it? From what I know they compare oxygen levels. Mine had built up a lot of crap on it from getting ot the fishing hole and I had to scrub it off with a wire brush.....

I grabbed the codes from http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/

Well I gotta guess. CA emissions trucks have 2 O2 sensors--one before the cat and one after. I think the one after simply tells the truck if the cat is working. Then again, I'm from IN so what do I know.

I don't really take the O2 sensor code all that serious really. I mean yeah, you prolly gotta replace the sensor (maybe even the cat) but as long as you do it sometime in the near future, I don't think it's too serious.

Your not going to burst into a ball of flames driving down the road and get roasted inside like a marshmellow.
