I have been reading up on putting criuser coils in the rear of 4Runners. More specifically 2nd gen 4Runners. In my reasearch I found that one coil is about a quarter of an inch longer than the other, and I have come to understand that you either want to get two passenger side coils or two driver side coils for your 4Runner. My question is if this is true. Any info will be much appreciated from those that have put cruiser coils in their 4Runners.

with the gen 2 4runners you use the fj 80 rear coils and i think there the same size coils but if they are different sizes you could still use them just put the taller one on the side with the gas tank. or just use the same size it dosent really matter. if there is a difference in length its by under an inch.

My son and I both have 2nd gen 4runners. We got two sets of Cruiser coils. I took the shorter ones and he took the longer ones. There is approximately 1.5 inches difference in the coils. Definately more than a quarter inch. I recommend getting matching coils.

 

How much of a lift did each of you see between the short and long coils? 2 or 3 inches of lift?

 

I got 3.5" when I used coils from a '94 LC.

 

ardent, was that with a stock set, differing lengths, or both drivers (short) or passenger (long side)?

 

Stock set. Long side on with the gas tank.

 

I put the slightly longer coil under the gas tank, sits perfectly level with half a tank of gas.
