First real trail run.....possible hydrolock? :(

Obviously you will be in a different vehicle when you take it in, so they can't see that your truck is dirty. I have taken an alternator with mud in it to the parts store, (not caked but a generous amount) and they just gave me a brand new one. Most of the time dumbarses work up there anyway...

Well no work today except a sidejob, so I can get working on it.
But I did help a hot girl with her car, lol. She needs a new alt, and I wanted to make sure it was, and she wouldn't pay too much. Damn Jeeps.
I don't think the plug was in at all, except for like a quarter inch.

you have no idea, lol
I got so mad at some of my coworkers sometimes for saying some of the most stupid things about cars and trucks...
people's stupidity is amusing
you should email Jeep with that story; could be their new kicker-line on their commercials
"Jeeps; match-making by break-downs since 1950", or whenever it was they came into production
I like it better than "Only in a Jeep"...

So got a a little done today, not really, lol.
It prepped to be cleaned now. So I'll do that tomorrow and start removing the starter and plenum. (hopeully)
Hopefully AZ, or PB, or CQ, or NAPA will have one with a lifetime warranty. Any trick to get it out? Some people can do it in like 20 minutes, I dunno how they can, its so tight in there.
Oh and yeah, #6 is cross threaded by the PO
Its in there better now than before, but still) How long until it is a problem?

the starters are not that hard to get out you just need an long extension. i can pop one out in all of maybe 15 mins at the most. as far as the spark plug most likly it will eventualy start shooting the plug right out of the head. theres a shop here that iv had fix a couple for me. they have a tool that they can re cut it from the inside up so they dont get any shavings in the motor or so they tell me. other than that you have to pull the head and drill tap and helicoil it to fix it

I dunno, it just took me awhile. after you got the bolts out, how did you remove it?
I really hope it doesn't shoot out. How much did that cost to get that done?
I REALLY hope this doesn't effect my roadtrip (7k mile next summer).

Use Toyota belts, and DONT overtighten them!
It puts stress on the bearings in the alternator and p/s pump. Any roller the belts are on will be stressed by having it over tightened. If the bearings fail, you'll have more than some mud in your alternator to worry about.

and for the starter you just have to get it turned the right direction and fish it out, thats what takes the most time imo getting the bolts out is not that hard with the right extentions

I took in a lug nut -a lug nut- to a parts store so they could get the thread pitch, you know how that goes. I noticed that there was a new guy working there, and that his register was open. I figured that I had the most simple peice off of a car that you could possibly ask for. Turns out I was wrong.
counterman- "can I help you?"
Me- "yes sir, I need one of these *held up lug nut*"
counterman- "okay, what vehicle is that off of?"
(I figured he wanted to make sure that I had the right size, or that he got the right size, whatever.)
Me- "87 Toyota pickup, 2.4L 22R" (you know the drill)
counterman- "is that carbureted?"
Me-
"Yes, the 22R is carbed..."
counterman- *finds the menu screen* (I'm surprised he found his way to work every day) and then drops my jaw open.
*with a serious look on his face,* "okay, what part is that off of sir?"
Both me and my buddy looked at each other at the same time with a stupified look on our faces.
I then turn back and reply, "It's a...lug nut"
after he went to the back we just started to laugh histerically. We made sure that the manager knew to tell him what a lug nut was. I believe he worked up there for about 3 more days and was fired.
Jeez, if you know nothing about cars,
DO NOT WORK AN AN AUTO PARTS STORE!!!
It was funny though.
I mean seriously, there are actually people out there who know diddly squat about vehicles. I almost feel sorry for the guy. I wonder what he would do if he got a flat. I do feel sorry for the vehicle he drives, it probably has between 20 and 40 psi in any given tire, has never had an oil change, and the brakes have probably needed to be replaced for the last 10k miles. People think that buying a car is a one time purchase, and that they never need to do anything else but put gas in it.

bahaha, yeah, I'm surprisd some of the people that I worked with there knew how to start their own car... I seriously do not know what that manager saw in these people. I mean, I can understand some of the bilinguals that were hired cause that's needed a little in this part of Fl, but talking a little spanish is the only thing they were good at, lol.
my buddies that use to come up there and see me to get some stuff call me before they even go up there any more, lol, it's funny to here the things they say about those dumb-arses...

didn't get ANYTHING done today. Too busy with work, and my 2nd job.
Now it is too cold out to wash it all off.
boo. Today is a eh day. Time to call up some places for the starter. I think I would rather just get the starter, and do the other stuff when I'm on a break. It is REALLY horrible not having a DD.
