Talking First Post, New 4runner =)

Hi my names josh, I've been reading this form for about 2 months now and decided to join the fun. I just recently purchased a 1995 Toyota 4runner 3.0L 4x4 5speed, 3VZE. I purchased the truck via craigslist, it was said to have a blown head gasket. Come to find out it didn't. I was able to talk the guy down to $1500 for the truck since i was gonna have to have engine work done to it. I'm not a mechanic but my brother in law is and knows good mechanics. So its been about 3 weeks they have been working on it in there spare time. Ive owned the truck about 5 weeks. I'm so anxious to get it back to play with... Apparently the engine was overheating, I noticed the radiator was soldered. Also when it was started antifreeze was spitting out the middle/left side. I purchases a bunch of parts for it they ask me for...

Ignition Wire Set
Mitsuboshi (OEM) Timing Belt
Head Gasket kit
Dealer part No.1 water bypass pipe
water pump
t belt tensioner
thermostat
pilot bushing
distributer cap
distributer rotor
radiator hose
radiator hose
Release Bearing
Clutch Kit
thermostat gasket
bypass hose

... They told me there was a 4x4 wire they couldn't find, they said it might have been yanked off or came off when they took out the engine. Any ideas of where this is or where it goes?

here are some pictures

-Joshua

Looks like a nice rig. What kind of lift? What size tires? Why did you buy a headgasket kit if it didn't have a blown headgasket? Did you have to pay to get all that work done on it? Sounds like you got a good deal on it if you can get it running good.

I don't know what brand lift, its 4" on 32" tires. I bought the head gasket set before they took the engine apart. I'm paying $550 for the work and im buying all the parts they need. With the work, parts and truck im sitting at $2,500. I also forgot to mention there is a knock in the engine. Not sure if its still gonna be there when there done or not, but ill definitely update once I know more.

Awesome! Looks like it should be a blast. Ditch those running boards bud! It'll look so much meaner with those wide tires!

just replaced Thermo Vacuum Valve, Putting a new tail pipe on, and fixing the back light. I was told Id get it back next weekend if they can find the mounts they where missing... I think they where missing the alternator mount...

Also anyone know where the 4x4 dash light plugs into? they found a wire and not sure where it plugs too, and its for the 4x4 light on the dash...

Will have many pictures once i get her back

What's going one with the tailpipe? Is it just me, or does it looks capped?

Check the valves for proper clearances. Mine did that until I adjusted the valves.
