First 4WD clutch

93 4wd pickup with extended cab v6

I am changing my clutch; the rear driveshaft came out easy. The front driveshaft spins when trying to remove the u-joint nuts, I tried putting in 4H, but reefing on u-joint nut with one wrench, and the shaft started turning again. Putting in 1st gear didn't help. Questions:

1. How do I get it back in 2H? The shifter won't move.

2. One wire connector on the transmission is not coming apart. It is connected to some black round thing at the top of the transmission; it is a two-wire connector, how does it disconnect?

3. When I removed the shifters, the lube inside the transfer case shifter is crumbly; should I vacuum it out and re-lube it? What kind of lube?

Thank you!!

Connector

I got the u-joint bolts off with my air impact and a wrench. Here is the connector I was unable to unhook.

It’s been a while since I tapped into the reverse wire but I believe one is your reverse trigger, I think it’s the single wire one, the other one not sure but there should be a tab that needs to be pushed to come apart, don’t force it. I would try to clean it up and try to find the tab and it should just come apart.

unless the tabs are broken and it’s just really crusted together, sorry I’m not much help but it’s been a while since I hooked up my reverse camera.

Crushed tab

Yup! I took your advice and didn’t force it. I spray anti-cease oil one it; saw the tab was very thin; shoved a tiny flat screw driver and voila. Did the same for the o2 sensor connector and along with a pair of pliers to wiggle it ; worked.
