Well finally got to take my yota wheelin for the first time. It is an 88 with 1.5" bj lift and 34x10.50x17 tsl's on it. Open carriers all around. One question I had was when I am trying to climb hills the truck hops and jumps really bad when it is trying to get traction but does not make it further up the hill. Is this normal for IFS trucks? My previous was a 88 sammy that never did this. I know the truck needs new cv's but everything is working like it should. thanks. Bill

 

The bouncing and losing traction is not IFS related. It's partly due to the fact you have no bed and consequently less weight to keep the rear in contact with the ground. You now have exponentially more weight in the front throwing things "off balance". Returning some weight to the rear, however you do it, could help a lot.
You're rear suspension probably needs some help, too. Like better or even new shocks and spring assistance. Tired leaf springs will bottom out on the overloads propelling you back in the air from impact upon returning to the ground....and/or when hitting large bumps, rocks, etc.
Heavy duty sidewalls on heavy duty tires...such as those....don't help the situation much, either, if they're fully aired up.
AND! Once you have lost traction it's just harder to get it back with open carriers.
