Finally its getting done!!!
Well my poor old 22RE was on its last legs, with the 37s and 5.29s I couldnt even hold 60mph on level ground. And the one time I was able to do it I burned 2.5 quarts of oil in 2 minutes!!
It would knock for about 45 seconds untill the engine warmed up. And at one point it did it for 15 minutes.
When it was my daily driver on 30 inch tires it would burn a quart of oil every three days.
When I first got the truck I drove to the beach (70mi round trip) at 70mph, got home and checked my oil, bone dry. This is when I found out that my truck cannot drive over 60mph without burning oil.
So this is where that story ends! And the new one begins!
I found a guy about 15 miles from me, very cool guy. He owns a toyota 4X4 junkyard!! All he has is toyota 4wd trucks & 4runners ranging from 79 to the new tacomas!! He also is a retired toyota master tech who specializes in 22re and 3vze engines. He charges $2200 to do a 22re rebuild and I decided to take him up on it!
He had a 22re block that he had just sent off to be machined, with the crank and rods, so he is just going to put that one in my truck and take mine to be machined for the next person!!
I cant wait to actually be able to drive the speed limit on the highway!!
Oh, he also told me it should only take him about 3-4 days to get finished once he gets the block back!!

Thats not to bad, you could have done it yourself for around 1200-1600
but sometimes it just easier to get someone else to do it
anywho, right on thats awesome

I dont have any tools to do that, I am a perfectionist, and would have to have micrometers and everything. No engine stand, no engine jack, and no place to do it!! I really wanted to do it myself, but a one car garage with minimal tools/experience wouldnt be fun for me!! Plus my truck is really tall, no jack/jack stands tall enough to even touch the frame!!! So its easier to have him do it!
