The question I will ask Scott is, it is gonna cost me 100 bucks to have the crank turned (I would think this is recommeded with an engine with this many miles on it) and "x" amount for new bearings.

I can get a new crankshaft and bearings for around 200 bucks from Ted (plus shipping).

To me, this seems like a no brainer.

Also, with this many miles on it, and I can get away with just honing it (I think I can since the cylinders look real good), should I purchase new pistons, or is it ok to simply clean up the OEM pistons and just rering it?

Thanks.

Just a tiny amount of scoring on the number 1 crank journal. Still not sure if I'll have the crank reground or simply call up Ted and have him ship me a new one. For what the machine shop wants, I just might as well get a new one.

Couple more pics:

My mechanic buddy should be stopping by shortly. Curious to what he has to say. Pistons came easily out the top of the motor. Couple slight wiggles and the pistons popped right out of the top, easily getting by the very small "lip" at the top of the cylinders.
