Good luck.

those kits are not that hard to install correctly. you guys make it sound scary.

Don't underestimate how stupid people can be! It's not hard but if you dont do your research or have poor welding skills it IS scary....

Tomki...Yes 33's would look funny on the 4inch lift...I would go at least 35s to make it worth your while.... For 35+ tires I would run 529s no question. 488s are better suited to 31-34 inch tires. Yes your power will be hurting as well as gas mileage and clutch

I have stock gears and I run 35's nicely. And 14.50's would be WAY too wide in comparison to the height of the tire.

I can't even imagine what that must be like! sorry.....

what is your MPG like?

Can you hold gears on the highway? How much does it dog out from a complete stop? Do you crawl? I would imagine your clutch must hate you

X2.

I ran 37 MTR/s with 4.88s and a freshly rebuilt 22RE 5spd as a dd for 18 months and it would take off and hold highway speeds just fine.

I get about 14 MPG and can easily cruise at 70mph, inclines above 5 degrees sometimes require a downshift.

I run 35"(balanced) MTZ's with 5.29 gears. I would not go to a 4.88 ratio if you plan on running on the freeway. My truck seems to hold speed fine once I get over 70mph in 5th gear. If I fall below 70mph, and need to climb a grade or pass, I have to downshift. My truck is low mileage (1987, 94K) and has a header with a 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust and flowmaster muffler. I run a stock carb w/ a knn filter. For a 22r, it runs suprisingly good, but I use all 100 hp to keep it going down the freeway. 4.88's would suck in my opinion.

Also consider that when a truck is lifted (mine-4" t.g. springs in the front, chevies in the rear) they don't slip through the wind like other cars or non-lifted trucks do.

Nobody wants to here that there not geared right, but let me tell you from experience, 4.88's and 35's would be pushing the limits of the mighty 22R.

Hope this helps.

Edit: I posted pretty early this morning and didn't realize you have the 3.0. I still think 4.88's would be pushing it, but that extra torque from the 3.0 would do a better job than the 22R.

I'm running balanced 35's MTZ's too but mine has a V6 and came stock with 31's so according to this site I have 4.56 gears, it can cruise nicely now, before with 31's it always felt like the gear ratio was too low, now it could be a little higher.
